A backlog at the HPCSA is not the point. What is is that Prof Peter Beale faces a number of allegations

Just more than two weeks ago, two prominent doctors appeared in a Johannesburg court on charges of culpable homicide after 10-year-old Zayyaan Sayed died during a routine laparoscopic operation to stop reflux.

On Wednesday afternoon, one of those doctors, Dr Abdulhay Munshi, 56, who was the anaesthetist treating Sayed, was, according to an eye witnesses, shot in the eye, chest, twice in the back and once under the arm. Now his co-accused, paediatrician Prof Peter Beale, will face the music alone at the next court appearance...
