A Kimberley estate agent was arrested for apparently defrauding several potential home buyers, the police say

Superintendent Mashay Gamieldien said the owner of an estate agency in Kimberley allegedly asked potential house buyers to apply for personal loans after viewing houses advertised by her agency.

When the loan was approved, the money was deposited into her bank account.

"This would then serve as a deposit on the house without any deal being finalised," said Gamieldien.

Police in Kimberley urged anyone who might have had the same experience to contact the investigating officer Joseph Mantsengu on 079-950-2541.
