"I am turning 31 and I am officially falling off the calendar," said Kwela Tebza’s Tebogo Lerole as he ushered in his birthday.

Lerole hand picked 250 guests from his email database to whom he sent personalised invitations - by the morning of his big event he had received 1, 200 RSVP’s.

Speaking about his evening, Lerole said: "We are at the top of the building amongst the night sky and Sandton stars surrounded by my brothers and schlabs in the Zar Lounge - what more could I ask for on my birthday."

"I am having a great night. The champagne is flowing plus I see lots of people smoking cigars."

"I am so impressed with my guests - my birthday theme was ’Black Tie’ and everyone has made an effort. They are really rocking my party."

Warming up the crowd on the dance floor before the live entertainment were DJ’s Vetkoek and Milkshake plus TboTouch - Lerole even asked DJ Bradley who played at his 21st birthday to make a sentimental appearance.

The glittering crowd included the usual A-Listers such as Julius Malema complete with security entourage, Pro-Kid, Uyanda Mbuli and Khanyi Mbau.

Lerole pulled out the big guns regarding live entertainment for his guests - Teargas were first, they performed solo, and then with Vusi, followed by Big Nuz who brought the house down with their SAMA winning award hits.

Lerole would not reveal exactly how much his shindig was expected to cost him. "I have had to fly the artists who are performing, pay for their accommodation plus their performance booking fees. I even organised their costumes so that they would fit in with my theme," said Lerole. He added: "I am going to just let the bar tab run as well cause you know how people like to enjoy their bubbly and wine on evenings like this."

Summing up the event two days later Lerole said: "I called it the "Goodbye Youth and Hello to Success and Growth Party."

"The evening was such a success and I have been receiving mad luv from everyone that was there."

Lerole left the party at approximately 3am leaving his guests to party on till 5am Saturday morning.
