Revered comic Riaad Moosa's new movie Material, is expected to be one of the best upcoming offerings by South African funnymen.

Several comedians have ventured into the film medium lately, with David Kau working on a "low-budget film" for Mzansi Magic TV channel, and Joey Rasdien's Blitz Patrollie, to be released soon.

In his movie, Moosa plays Cassim Kaif, a young Muslim man who works in his father's fabric shop in Fordsburg, Johannesburg.

As per family tradition, Cassim is expected to take over the family business from his father, Ebrahim. He wants to be a stand-up comedian - much to his father's resistance.

The film is scheduled to start screening at local cinemas on February 17.

Kau would not reveal much more than the fact that his film would feature an appearance from former newspaper columnist Kuli Roberts.
