In part two of our feature on Mzansi celebs who have slayed 2016, we take a look at more local celebs whose stars rose all the way up.

Babes Wodumo

Babes emerged as SA's national treasure in 2016.

She managed to cast a spell on the industry with her music, thanks to the monster gqom hit Wololo, which is one of the most played songs on radio.

Babes, who released her debut album in November, also made history in the local music industry in October, after clocking more than 2 million YouTube views on the music video for Wololo in just three months.

It's no secret that she is the industry's newest fascination throughout the year.

Wayde van Niekerk

Wayde made history in August, after winning a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Since then, the entire nation has been rejoicing and celebrating our guy.

He came out as the biggest winner at the SA Sports Awards in November, after bagging three gongs for Sportsman of the Year, Sports Star of the Year and People’s Choice.

Did we mention that he was also surprised with a jaw-dropping, brand new Audi R8 after his mammoth Olympics achievement?

Zahara

Not only did Zahara debut a fresh new haircut and a banging body this year, she also seemed to have changed her entire look.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE previously, Zahara explained that her lifestyle change began when she looked in the mirror, and did not like what she saw.

"I looked at myself in the mirror and thought, 'girl you are not even 30 yet and you are wearing Spanx under your dresses.' I was just depressed and uninspired at the time," she said.

Since then, Zahara has worked hard to change both her body and her style, including a decision to cut her trademark locks for something a little shorter.

Julius Malema

Julius is another famous face who debuted a new slim frame this year.

The EFF leader‚ who has lost a ton of weight‚ explained that he changed his life because he realised he had to look after himself.

"No sugar. No junk. Our life requires of us to consume a lot of junk. You just have to be extremely disciplined. A bit of running every morning so you start you day proper. Before I came here I did my five (kms). I had to come here prepared," he told Anele Mdoda during an interview on Real Talk.

Apart from that, Julius continued being the talented politician this year that many love and many hate.

Buhle Mkhize

Look, you might be puzzled why Buhle made it onto the list, given that much of the world is not exactly sure what she actually does.

But, there's no denying that she did a great job in setting the internet alight throughout 2016 with her with her risqué videos and nude posts.

She served us with all kinds of heat!

The fashionista has come under fire previously for her explicit videos and posts, however she continues to turn a deaf ear to the backlash.
