As the debate around the Metro FM Awards voting system continues to rage, record label boss Cassper Nyovest has voiced his disdain at "buying awards".

Ever since musicians including Riky Rick, Babes Wodumo and Khuli Chana vented their anger over the votes at this year's Metros, there's been talk of awards being "bought".

There has also been rumours about Mabala Noise making a "donation" to the SABC before the awards.

  • Ntsiki Mazwai: Is Babes Wodumo a one-hit wonder? Although Ntsiki Mazwai missed the Metro Awards she couldn't help but comment on Babes Wodumo's dololo award situation.

In the wake of the brewing storm Cassper Nyovest, who owns Family Tree Records, has assured fans that "buying awards" was not part of their DNA.

The rapper was responding to questions on social media over why he didn't "buy awards" for the artists in his stable.

  • Fake news! Mabala Noise 'paid' Moreki hitmaker to skip Metro FM Awards Mabala Noise has laughed off a fake news report claiming that the label bought King Monada a car to not attend the Metro FM Awards on Saturday night.

"I think Family Tree should start buying em awards like other recording labels," said a follower.

Cassper shut down the suggestion swiftly. "Nah bro. Family Tree believes in organic growth," he said.

Well, thanks for that clarification Cass!
