From dramatics on reality TV to vlogging about cooking, Dineo Ranaka is hoping to turn over a new leaf in the form of a cooking show. But what on earth made her decide to focus on cooking? A fast and a spiritual revelation, apparently.

Dineo has created a new platform where she expresses her passion for food called The Untrained Chef.

The media personality, who has delved into radio and reality television, told True Love magazine that the concept of the cooking came to her during a fast.

"I've always loved cooking, but it took a different form all together this year when I was in the middle of my annual 40-day fast," she said.

She explained that she did the biblical fast as opposed to her normal 90-day detox, for spiritual reasons. She says the intimate time with God led to the her posting her food vlogs on Instagram, and the idea was cemented after receiving positive feedback from her fans.

She said that she soaked herself into the joy of making food even though, ironically, she was depriving herself of food. The reaction she got from her family gave her further inspiration to share her recipes with the rest of the world. She plans on making the The Untrained Chef a travelling TV show.

"This whole project is very big in my heart. It's something that I can do as a mom and not feel like I'm taking time away from the kids. It keeps them happy too as they love to eat," Dineo said.
