Zodwa Wabantu left viewers of her reality show shocked when she claimed to have had 11 abortions since she became sexually active.

The entertainer divulged the information in her reality show during Saturday night’s episode when she was being instructed to perform a sacred cleansing ritual to acknowledge her unborn children.

“The number of abortions I’ve done in my entire life is about 11,” she said.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Zodwa said she had the abortions from 11 different men, claiming her last pregnancy termination was seven years ago.

“Growing up I was too much of a b*tch because I was hungry, so the only thing I could use was my pussy to survive. Most of my abortions come from my upbringing until seven years ago.”

She said given the chance, she could corroborate her story with records from the clinics where she had the procedures.

“I can prove it. This is my life. Even if I had to prove that Marie Stopes has a record. We are not playing with people's lives. I'm not famous to please. It's for a purpose. Young girls shouldn't go through what I went through. I've learnt and I've survived to tell my story.”

Addressing the notion that she had opened up about it on the show to get a new season, Zodwa said she was led by her ancestors.

“People can laugh and count. I'm owning up to my story. I was not forced. I didn't talk because of TV [rates]. I spoke for my own personal reasons. My ancestors said; 'khuluma, ube clean, sizo ngena kuwe sihlale'.”

Tweeps took to her Twitter timeline reacting to her claim.

“11 Abortions Mara Zodwa? I would take this to grave. On a national tv ngoku?” one tweep wrote.

Zodwa has been sharing her spiritual journey with her viewers since revealing she had accepted her ancestral calling in June.

“I’m choosing Idlozi. I’m very wealthy ngiyikosazana yasebukhosini under amahlubi clan inkosi imina. Fame is nothing to me, compared to what I am and becoming. This horn is 133 years old and belonged to my great-great grandfather. Soft life for life,” she wrote on Instagram.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE earlier this year after she shared a picture of herself in a stream wrapped in traditional cloth, she said: “They don’t want a weave, they don’t want make up. How I understand why I was different. It was them. I don’t fit in, I have no desire to be wanted. I walk alone, and I’m different. So it was not me, because I've chosen to be that way. I was built to not fall for anything.”
