For all the fame Jeremy Mansfield gained through his career in the entertainment industry, he always had a desire to change the world around him.

Jeremy held discussions with DA leaders about joining the party before the 2019 elections.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE at the time, Jeremy said his venture into the political space stemmed from his hopes of “cleaning up the problems” at the SABC and attempting to restore the rights of animals.

“I know I can assist in cleaning up the problems at the SABC and broadcasting. Also, perhaps, in the portfolio of arts and culture. My passion is also animal rights, so that could play a part. If the party sees fit, I would love to work on any of those portfolios in parliament.”

Jeremy made a comeback to the airwaves when he joined Hot 91.9FM in 2018, saying his return to radio was due to him being able to make more of an impact and a change.

“The reason I decided to jump into this particular venture was mainly because of what this brand has done for charity, it's something that's always been close to my heart and when I was approached I thought let's carry on doing the right thing.

“I was looking at a career in politics when this came up. I had to think seriously about that. I'd gone through the whole selection process but I realised this is where I could make more of an impact than fighting political battles.”

Aside from his on-air radio career, Jeremy found joy in his involvement in philanthropic projects such as HOT FM’s Hot Cares Christmas, a CSI initiative that has changed many lives and put smiles on the faces of many less-fortunate people.

“Jeremy really did change the South African radio landscape and was the benchmark for so many other radio presenters who came after him,” HOT 102.7FM MD Lloyd Madurai said in a statement shared with TshisaLIVE.
