There have been many times when Vusi's actions have been misconstrued on social media and he's had to set the record straight.
In May this year a video of him celebrating the success of his hit song Ndicede with songwriter Tanky-Tanky “Nteng-teng” Mabutho and her family did the rounds on social media, sparking speculation he had paid Nteng-teng with a case of beer, robbing her of her royalties.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Vusi said he was on good terms with the family and making sure Tanky would receive her fair share of the royalties.
“Myself, Tanky and her family are on the same page. We are both writers of the song and we share royalties 50/50. I think people are trying to f**k up something that's great and it's sad. Everything is legit. Can people just let us be. We are cool, everyone else is trying to make this thing something it's not,” he said.

Social media's 'brutality' makes Vusi Nova shy away from reading comments

Vusi Nova has changed how he conducts himself on social media because of trolls' comments.
In an interview on Podcast and Chill, the musician recalled being hijacked and kidnapped outside his home in Melville, Johannesburg, by a group of armed men and later freed with just his underwear and socks.
Vusi spoke of how people on social media claimed he had staged the ordeal without taking his trauma into account and that changed how he manoeuvres on social media.
“I don't like reading people's comments because people are brutal. There were people saying I staged all that,” he said.
