Songstress Berita is remembering two musical giants  the late Bra Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi.

Taking to her Twitter timeline she shared a snap of herself with the two legends, who passed away on 23 January 2018 and 23 January 2019 respectively.

“If standing on the shoulders of giants was a person Remembering my musical fathers Bra Hugh Masekela & Baba Oliver Mtukudzi who passed away on this day a year after each other. May your legacy continue to pave the way for generations and generations of artists to come,” she wrote.

Bra Hugh's son Selema and his girlfriend Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong'o.

“Somehow today makes five years since you’ve left the building. Your music is playing loudly today across the world. Your infinite contributions to the planet reverberate still. You are celebrated. Your love is felt more than ever. You are still here, always will be. I miss you so damn much,” wrote his son.

“Remembering this great man today, #HughMasekela. I am so glad our paths crossed and that I got to experience his magic in real life. His music lives on in us. And his light shines on in his son @selema. (And I am so grateful to bathe in it.), wrote Lupita Nyong'o.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka told TshisaLIVE she has intentions of keeping the legacy of Oliver Mtukudzi and Hugh Masekela alive by paying homage them trough song.

This song incorporates authentic African jazz characteristics.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Yvonne said she did everything with purpose and aims to empower others.

“I do what God has asked me to do, with the capabilities He's given me. You don't have to wait, you just have to go out there and knock on that door.”
