On an Instagram Live Somizi spoke candidly of the days when he felt emotionally overwhelmed.
“I sometimes also remember days when I wake up and I wish I never woke up. That is when you know you are either depressed or you are going through a lot of things and you want to throw in the towel. That is when again I am grateful for the spirit I have. That 10% positive mindset is very important.”
Somizi dismissed the notion that people with money or fame do not with battle mental issues, saying t they are good at masking it.
“Don't be fooled into thinking people who are high up there are having a soft life. It is even tougher to maintain,” he said.
During one of the episodes of his bathroom talk sessions, the Idols SA judge opened up about taking charge of his mental health.
“This condition doesn't choose your financial status, doesn't choose race, gender or sexuality. When it's attacking, it's attacking. What I'm doing is dismantling the it thinks it has by talking about it.
“Now that I can recognise it, I don't deny it and don't glorify it. Recognise it and say, 'I see you and I'm going to do something about it'."
