Mohale Motaung is carving a new path for himself in the entertainment industry with a new business venture.

The reality TV star and radio personality took to his social media timeline on Monday announcing the launch of his cocktail lounge/club on 12 Main, Melville, Johannesburg called Fusion Cocktail Lounge.

“I love bringing people together, its always been my thing. I've travelled so much and I've witnessed how happy people are at clubs and lounges and I wanted to create my own culture for people to have fun and come together.

“In South Africa, people going out is a big culture and industry,” he told TshisaLIVE.

It's taken a year and a half to bring this project to life, from finding the perfect venue, scouting for the right business partners and raising capital.

“It's a project I've been working on for some time. When I tried it the first time it didn't work out. Things didn't really go well.”

Amid debates about ownership of business ventures by celebrities, Mohale said he is the owner of the Fusion Cocktail Lounge brand but is renting the venue.

According to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, “Fusion Lounge” was registered last August at the same address. It has two directors. Mohale was not listed as one. However, a relative is.

The company, “Fusion 2 Cocktail Lounge”, was registered this January with Mohale's family member still listed, and a change to the other director.

When asked about this, Mohale said he did not want to go into detail on how he runs his businesses.

"It's my affairs on how I run my business. I don't think it's important for public consumption."

Now that's it's up and running, Mohale is ready to have an official launch on March 25.

The events hosted at the lounge would give a platform to upcoming DJs, and though Mohale promises familiar and renowned names to entertain customers at his new space, he plans to incorporate upcoming artists as well.

“I want to use the space for people who are upcoming to get into the industry because it's not an easy industry to get into and a lot of them are not given the opportunity to play or showcase what they can do. People always want to work with people who are known because it brings the crowd.”
