Yanga Chief is struggling to come to terms with the deaths of his close friends and colleagues AKA and Costa Titch.

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was shot dead on February 10. His murder is still being investigated.

Costa Titch, 28, collapsed and died while performing at the Ultra Music Festival at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg on March 11 and was laid to rest on March 15.

Yanga Chief took to his social media timeline on Wednesday, speaking of the impact the two stars had in the entertainment business and the legacy they leave behind.

Waking up to this reality daily is heavy to bear. So many conversations I wish had gone differently. The arrogance to think 'we still have time'. Will we ever get over ourselves sisaphila? I’m beyond grateful for what we created, Forbes. Not just songs, not just memories, but we actually changed people's lives.

“I’m not sure which direction I’m headed, but every day I ask myself what would you do in this situation and without fail I just do it. I will not let your legacy go to waste bro. I’m fighting every day for the dream we shared. You believed so much in me, the least I can do is to believe in myself more.”

Speaking to TshisaLIVE after AKA's death, Yanga Chief said the star was the reason he decided to stop shying away from fame and join the cast of MTV's Love & Hip Hop SA.

“There's a part of myself that has always been fighting fame. The people were around, superstars such as AKA, always said I should go harder.”

The reality star, real name Yanga Ntshakaza, is featured on AKA's fourth and last studio album Mass Country on a song titled Ease with Blxckie. Yanga said he felt the slain rapper would be proud of the direction in which his career is going.

AKA and I hadn't been working on music for a long time. We leant on our friendship in the last times. I'm blessed to have been able to make a song after a long time with him, but I'm not going to promise unheard verses.

“I'm sure there are a couple, but for me, I'm happy with that conclusion in our music story. I know we are proud of each other. I think he would want me to go on my own run now and stand as myself, and that's what I'm going to do, with him at the back of my mind at all times.”
