The rapper said going home to absorb and learn about his heritage, while interrogating his beliefs, helped him to find himself.
“I really started being myself again unapologetically and in finding who I was, I found out more about my culture, my family's beliefs and my family tree, and who I am, which is something that has completely turned my own career around.”

Yanga Chief said waiting to release a single allowed him to work with someone who gave it life.
In an interview with SlikourOnLife, the rapper explained why he held back for more than a year to drop Benjamins.
“I had the song and the hook for over a year and a half, I didn’t know what to do with it until I came across some of Henny’s music. He sounded like he could give it some life and I wasn’t wrong,” Yanga said.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE last year, the rapper said he had learnt to be unapologetic and accept who he was to cement his name in the hip hop space.
