While the amapiano genre has become a global success topping music charts, Lucas Raps says he is not impressed with the sound.
The rapper took to his Twitter timeline recently saying hip-hop had a better impact than amapiano.
“Amapiano is boring. I don’t give a f*ck what you say in the comments. Lmao! This sh*t boring asf,” he wrote.
“Hip Hop for life. I'm sorry. It’s funny how every time hip hop always makes it shake.
“Hip Hop for life. Piano is wack. Don’t let them cap you. Anyway, enjoy it.”
Since signing with Def Jam Recordings Africa, Lucas Raps has been taking strides to leave a mark in the music industry.
T-Effect creative director Nhlanhla “Nivo” Ndimande responded to his comments challenging him to release music that would be reciprocated as well as the amapiano genre has been.
“Tweet like this to clickbait and attempt to resurrect your dead career ... Drop fire next and let’s see if this lil plan of yours works,” he wrote.

Contrary to Lucas Raps' claims, the amapiano genre has put a spotlight on South African talent and afforded them opportunities beyond the borders of Mzansi.
From Uncle Waffles playing at Coachella and getting cosigns from renowned artists to Major League DJz touring the UK and the US playing amapiano mixes since signing with American label Atlantic Records.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE celebrating their achievements overseas, the pair thanked their fans for being a part of their musical journey and said the genre had provided opportunities like never before in the music industry.
“It’s been a crazy journey and we would love to thank every single person who has been behind us through it all. 'Piano to the world' was a phrase we believed in so much so that it changed our lives.
'This is just the beginning. There’s still so much work to do. The door stays open for kids coming after us. Black child your dreams are valid. Let’s dream as a nation because, wow, the doors are open wide and the world is ready to embrace Africa,” Banele told TshisaLIVE.
