Radio presenter and author Carol Ofori has been named as a character on Disney+ SA animation series Kizazi Moto Generation Fire.

In a statement shared with TshisaLIVE, it was explained she stars in an episode titled Mkhuzi: The Spirit Racer and plays the role of titular character Mkhuzi. In this episode, we meet Manzo — a half-human, half-alien teenager played by Nasty C who dreams of becoming a superstar racer like his mother, the legendary masked racer Mkhuzi.

“I am excited to be a part of this Disney production. That talent from the whole African continent is involved makes me proud,” Carol said.

“I’ve always wanted to create content for Africans, African children and for the world to consume our content as Africans, so I am happy to contribute more in this amazing animation series — and I hope it’s the first of many exciting projects from Disney that shines a light on Africa and its talent.”

Gigi Lamayne previously spoke to TshisaLIVE after it was revealed she will also star in the animation series. At the time she could not reveal her character nor the name.

“I think we needed to have a cartoon character that looks like us. It's a nice feeling and its nice that one day when I have my own child we will be able to look at characters that look like them. I think for me that's a big stride, so huge shout-out to Disney for localising what's to come. I think that's really cool,” she said.

Other celebrities lending their voices to this project include Pearl Thusi, Tumi Morake, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Lillian Dube, and Candice Modiselle.

Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire will debut globally on July 5 on Disney+.
