Somizi Mhlongo has responded to claims he is part of the “illuminati” by saying people are threatened by other people's star power.

“Illuminati” is a name given to a cult-like organisation that promises fame, fortune and power in exchange for certain sacrifices.

Somizi had an eventful Durban July with his multiple outfits that landed him on the “suss” side of trolls who were seemingly convinced he has joined the group.

As part of his Bathroom Talk with Somizi series, the star shared he also thought mega star Beyoncé was part of the group for her fashion sense.

“I was looking at the comments, especially on TikTok, of videos that have been posted of my arrival and stuff. The caption would go ‘Did you see the sign; did you see that there’s Illuminati?’ He's part of the Illuminati'.

“There was a point when I would see videos of Beyoncé and others and there’s a part of me that believed them until they started saying I am also a part of the Illuminati,” he said in a video on Instagram.

He said there are people who cannot fathom the light and shine of other people. “It is so bright it makes them think it's unrealistic and it can't be from this world.”

Somizi, who hosted DJ Tira's Afrotainment marquee, ate and left no crumbs with his seven outfit changes.

The media personality channelled an alien look and was carried into the venue by men holding him up in a makeshift alien cage. Shortly after this he started his multiple outfit changes, at one point twinning with daughter Bahumi Mhlongo.
