Actor Lunga “Luchy” Mofokeng has shot his final scenes on The River and took to his socials to bid the telenovela and its fans farewell.

The actor expressed his gratitude to everyone who journeyed with him from the first time he appeared on screen as Andile Dikana.

“When one door closes another opens right? We’re officially done shooting. Thank you to @tshedzapictures for the opportunity. Thank you to @dstvza @1magictv for blessing the people with our great work week and week out. Lastly, thank you to you The River fans/supporters. Y’all made us want to come to work every day. Until we meet again,” the actor wrote.

While Lunga is also a TV presenter, he's more famous for his gay man role as Andile Dikana and the talented actor has become one of the fans' favourites and is making waves in the entertainment industry and on Tik Tok.

The River is in its sixth and final season and to shake things up has announced new faces who will be joining the cast.

Taking to its Instagram timeline and website, the channel made the announcement by sharing the talent.

Kamo Modisakeng plays the role of the sheltered Bonolo, while Tebogo Khalo plays Makhosi. Seasoned actress Ayanda Borotho joins as Zanemvula Shange, and Nandi Nyembe as Stella Shange.

1Magic also announced the return of Nkanyiso Bhengu as Pastor Mdluli and Thapelo Sebogodi as Khabzela.

M-Net confirmed this was the sixth and final season in a statement shared with TshisaLIVE.

“At M-Net local entertainment channels we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to the cast and crew of The River for a memorable five years,” said Shirley Adonisi, M-Net director for local entertainment channels.

“Their hard work, dedication and brilliance have led to the telenovela's success. The final season is going to be the show's most epic yet. The drama will be bigger and better, setting the stage for the ultimate finale.”
