The body of the late award-winning singer Bulelwa Mkutukana, popularly known as Zahara, arrived in East London on Saturday.
Emotional family members, who carried her trademark guitar, cried and could be seen consoling each other.
The East London-born singer died in Johannesburg surrounded by the loved ones earlier this week reportedly after liver complications.
She was admitted to hospital about two weeks ago.

Family spokesperson Nkosiyam Mkutukana said the family was struggling to come to terms with Zahara's death.
“She was so humble and down to earth,” he said.
“When she's at home, we did not feel like she's a celebrity ... she treated us like a family.
“Every Christmas she used to come down and visit our family.
“We have a lost a humble person.”
Nkosiyam said they were grateful after receiving huge support from the public.
Zahara will be buried in East London next weekend.
