- Sean Muller, Cape Town: I have a lot of time for Justice Malala, but his criticism of the proposed "solidarity tax" goes too far.

Although a popular refrain, the evidence of a causal link from massive profits or salaries to economic growth or job creation is weak.

Indeed, in South Africa, where the Competition Commission is under-resourced in dealing with price fixing and profiteering, large profits or excessive salaries are sometimes indicators of distinctly anti-social behaviour.
