Peugeot South Africa is once again supporting child welfare by providing the Beeld Children’s Fund with a brand new car as the key prize for the fund’s annual fundraising competition.

This year, Peugeot will be supplying the Beeld Children’s Fund with a brand-new Peugeot 208 Access 1.0 VTi hatchback as the main prize. The three-door, manual-transmission model has a retail value of R149 900.

The car giveaway competition has been a core element of the Beeld Children’s Fund’s fundraising activities since 1997, and is now in its 18th consecutive year. Peugeot has supported the fund with a new car prize for the past five years.

In 2013, the competition raised in excess of R1-million for the fund, with SMS-based competition entry ticket sales accounting for approximately R200 000 of the total.

The Beeld Children’s Fund supports some 12 child-focussed charities with the proceeds of the competition, including several children’s homes, shelters, day care and after-school care centres, and counselling services.

“Our children are our future, and for that reason, it is vital that we protect, assist and nurture the young people of South Africa,” says Francis Harnie, managing director of Peugeot Citroën SA. “We are proud of our long association with the Beeld Children’s Fund, and hope that our support of the competition will improve the lives of many children in need.”

The Beeld Children’s Fund Car Competition is now open for entries. Tickets cost R25, and can be entered by sending an SMS with the word PEUGEOT to 41511. Entries close on 6 November 2014, and the winners will be announced in Beeld the following day.
