Cell C CEO Jose Dos Santos has come under fire for making several comments about women during a radio interview with Cliff Central.

Dos Santos' statements focused on women in the workplace and their impact on the professional environment.

On female empowerment, Dos Santos said he was implementing processes that would see more women upskilled and holding more influential positions,  he also said the staff consisted of 60 percent females, according to MyBroadband.

“We have good-looking women, we have clever women, we have smart women, and that has created a different environment,” he said.

Dos Santos' did not end there as he went on to explain that he wanted to see a woman take over his position.

“I think we have to empower the female individuals. Today a lot of women are independent.”

“I’m hoping that one day when I step down from Cell C, a woman will be the CEO of the company. They have a different way of managing, they have a different way of engaging in meetings, it creates a different dynamic,” he said.

Using the term 'b*** switch', Dos Santos indicated that women have a high tolerance for dealing with workplace issues then men but stated this could easily change when they were unhappy.

“If I can use the term on your radio station, you know women do have a b*** switch, and boy if you see two women fighting it is worse than two men.”

He added that the presence of Miss SA finalists at Cell C had lead to men dressing better and shaving every morning.

On Twitter, Dos Santos had begun trending for the past two hours. His comments were slammed and his leadership questioned for the sexist attitude he seemed to display in his views.

Cell C has yet to address the furore over their CEO's statements.
