The United Arab Emirates convicted 30 people on Tuesday of setting up a local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from three months to five years.
Twenty of the defendants were Egyptians and 10 were UAE citizens.
The UAE arrested 14 Egyptians in January last year and put them on trial in November. Six other Egyptians were tried in absentia.
Defendants do not have the right to appeal. State security prosecutors said the group planned to recruit members and collected money to support the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Amnesty International described the trial as "grossly unfair," saying
UAE authorities had tortured the suspects and denied them access to lawyers for months.
In July, 68 UAE citizens were sentenced for plotting to overthrow the government. Many of the accused were members of the al-Islah group, which UAE authorities said is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
