WATCH | Africa Weekly: Children jailed with their mothers, and discrimination in Tunisia after death

This week on Africa Weekly, female prisoners in Burkina Faso have no choice but to keep their infants with them in detention. 

The infants share cells with women jailed for theft, mutilation and murder. Making matters worse for the children in the cramped cells, authorities provide no support with food, medicine or sanitary products.  

Then, on the island of Djerba, off the coast of Tunisia, even the dead face discrimination. Here there are separate places of burial for light-skinned and dark-skinned inhabitants.

The discrimination is made according to skin colour - with the darker-skinned being buried in cemeteries for so-called 'slaves', while the lighter-skinned are buried in the graveyard for so-called 'free people'.
