Three men have been arrested for killing a priest in the Catholic Church Magwaza Mission in Melmoth, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

"Three men aged between 18 and 24 were arrested in their homes at KwaNongoma on Tuesday," Captain Thulani Zwane said.

"One of the suspects was wearing the deceased's shoes and clothing taken during the killing."

Catholic priest Senzo Mbokazi was killed in November in Melmoth.

"He was found dead in church with stab wounds and it is suspected he was strangled," said Zwane.

The men would be charged with murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances and would appear in the Melmoth Magistrate's Court on Friday.
