Petrol price to hit R12.20/l for 95 octane in Gauteng
The Energy Department says the price of petrol will rise on Wednesday next week.
The price of 93 octane petrol will increase by 21 cents a litre and the price of 95 octane petrol will go up by 23 cents a litre.
95 octane unleaded will now cost R12.20 a litre in Gauteng and R11.85 per litre at the coast.
The price of diesel (0.05% sulphur) is set to increase by 39.16 cents a litre and the price of diesel (0.005% sulphur) is set to increase by 40.16 cents a litre.
The single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would increase by 44 cents a litre and the maximum retail price for LP Gas would be three cents a kilogram.
The increase in petrol and diesel was partly due to a slate levy of 13.16 cents a litre. This levy is used to recover the monies owed to oil companies, due to the time delay in the adjustment of the petrol pump price.
The weakening of the Rand against the US Dollar increased the contribution to the Basic Fuels Price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 2.65 cents a litre, 2,80 cents a litre, and 2.79 cents a litre respectively.
