A second firearm stolen from two police officers killed in the days leading up to the Marikana shooting was recovered on Saturday, North West police said.
"The discovery comes after police arrested a person on Friday in the early hours of the morning for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm," said Captain Dennis Adriao.
The man then took police to the Eastern Cape where he showed them where he had hidden a second firearm, a 9mm, taken from a slain police officer.
The man will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court on Monday to face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.
The firearm was one of two 9mm pistols stolen from two police officers killed on August 13 in Marikana, allegedly by Lonmin miners who had been striking.
A shotgun and R5 rifle were also stolen but had not yet been recovered.
"Our detectives have been working around the clock to bring all those involved, not only in the murder of the police officers but all the other murders, to book," Adriao said.
The killings of the police officers was just one incident of several that occurred during the Lonmin strike, culminating in the shooting of 34 striking mine workers on August 16.
