NPA advocate's son guilty of culpable homicide

The 21-year-old son of a National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) advocate has been found guilty of culpable homicide and driving under the influence by a Pretoria court.

Gunter Geyer pleaded guilty to the charges during an appearance in the Hatfield District Court on Wednesday, Beeld reported.

He hit Louis Willem Andries Nel, 64, a bonsai expert and the managing director of the pharmaceutical company Brunel, and his jogging partner in Lynnwood Road, Pretoria, on the morning of April 20, 2011,

Nel died at the scene, his friend was injured. Geyer was arrested at the scene.

He is the son of NPA acting head, advocate Karen van Rensburg.

Beeld reported that sentencing proceedings would start in January.
