ANC members and leaders must stop leaking to the media information about confidential discussions, its Eastern Cape branch said yesterday.

This affected the ANC's credibility and did not help the people who leaked the information, provincial chairman Phumulo Masualle said at a lekgotla.

The ANC had to work "hard and smart" to make sure service delivery backlogs were urgently addressed, he said.

Provincial treasurer Thandiswa Marawu told the Dispatch Online the lekgotla had accepted recommendations to "redeploy comrades" in municipalities where political infighting was compromising service delivery.

"By the end of March we want to solve those problems."

Marawu mentioned Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela as among the "hot spot" municipalities.
