Correctional Services Minister Sbu Ndebele has promised to take stern action against any prisons official implicated in the party-in-jail scandal involving the Waterkloof Four.

Two of the four murderers were sent back to prison on Sunday, just days into their parole, after video footage of them partying in a prison cell was released. Frikkie du Preez and Christoff Becker will know today whether their parole will be revoked.

"Anarchy at any correctional centre will not be tolerated and any official or offender found guilty of any such offence will face the full might of the law," Ndebele said yesterday. "The Department of Correctional Services will fight fraud and corruption with vigour."

Ndebele said his department had fired, demoted or suspended 171 employees for offences relating to fraud and corruption since 2009.

The Gauteng regional commissioner of correctional services has launched an investigation into drinking and partying in Kgosi Mampuru prison, Pretoria.

Becker, Du Preez, Reinach Tiedt and Gert van Schalkwyk were released on Tuesday last week after serving half of their 12-year jail terms for killing a homeless man in Pretoria in 2001.

Tiedt and Van Schalkwyk had been released in December 2011 after an administrative bungle that led to the sacking of three senior prison officials. The Pretoria High Court ordered their return to prison in September.
