About 2.7 million people watched President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation address on TV - presumably with millions more listening via radio - according to the latest television ratings.

The figures are from the SA Advertising Research Foundation.

Last year, about 3 million people had tuned in to watch Zuma outline his cabinet's agenda, while 3.6 million watched him in 2012.

Zuma's most-viewed State of the Nation speech was in 2011. It was watched by just less than 4.2 million people.

This year's figures are only for SABC2, eNCA and e.tv. ANN7 and the SABC 24-hour news channel were not included.
