Dolly Parton has denied miming during her popular set at the Glastonbury Festival, during which she sang hits such as Jolene and Blue Smoke.

The country music singer told British newspaper The Sun: "My boobs are fake, my hair's fake but what is real is my voice and my heart."

Her debut at the festival, popular with the 100000-strong crowd, drew criticism from some, including Sky newsreader Kay Burley, who tweeted: "Oh, Dolly is miming. How disappointing."

But broadcaster Stephen Fry defended the 68-year-old star on Twitter, saying: "Believe me, that is not miming. If it appears not always to lip-sync that's an HD live processor issue. You see it with news reporters."

Parton's spokesman told the newspaper it was ridiculous to suggest the star was miming: "She's been performing for more than 60 years - she doesn't need to.

"This should not overshadow what was truly a great gig and accomplished performance. Dolly adored every single moment."
