KAN'T SPELL: Khanyi Mbau hosts a new show

Khanyi Mbau's Katch It With Khanyi is the most watched TV talk show in the country, according to TVSA.

Mbau's exclusive interviews with celebrities have enthralled about 785000 viewers, largely thanks to their willingness to tell her things they have rarely told others.

Katch It With Khanyi was previously aired only on eKasi+ before being recently promoted to a prime time slot on e.tv.

In second place is SABC2's Motswako with 753000 viwers, Vusaseki with 687000, Eksê: Let's Talk with Masechaba Lekalake with 567000 and SABC3's 3 Talk with Noeleen Maholwana Nomasanqu, with 406000.

Mbau's show debuted last year on Open View HD's eKasi+ channel and the channel gave it a second season.

Monde Twala, e.tv's head of channels, said Mbau's "tell it like it is" style was a major drawcard.

"Khanyi Mbau's open book policy about her life in the spotlight is a mechanism she will use to get her guests to open up about their lifestyles.

"Celebrity guests will be able to relate to Khanyi," he said.

Speaking to a monthly magazine, Mbau said her show was different because she was not afraid to bring up uncomfortable topics.

"I will use my own experiences to relate to my guests. For instance, in the case of someone like Mandoza, I know what it's like to lose a car. I know the challenges that celebrities face because I have been there. We'll explore things that no one wants to talk about - the lingering elephant in the room."
