Fans of Armando Iannucci's political comedy Veep who are also fans of the medical show House will get to have their cake and eat it when the show returns for its fourth season next year.

Presidential house calls

That's because it has been announced that Hugh Laurie will appear in several episodes of Veep's fourth season, although it's not yet known what character he will play.

Luther's back

While fans of the original BBC drama Luther may be wary of who will play Idris Elba's character in the American remake, they can breathe a sigh of relief at the news that Elba will return for a fourth season of the original show sometime next year.

Ladies of the lake

The BBC has also announced that it will produce a second season of New Zealand director Jane Campion's television series Top of the Lake. There's been no news of which actors will be involved in the second series, but Campion will be writing a second six-part series for development some time next year.
