Too young to sit idle

South Africa has the second- worst rate of youth unemployment in the world, according to a report released by international management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

As much as 51.4% of this country's youths aged 15 to 24 are unemployed. Spain fared worse at 55%.

"A rocky start for young job seekers puts them at higher risk of unemployment and lower wage expectations for the rest of their lives," said the consultancy's Malte Bedürftig, Solveigh Hieronimus and Julia Klier.
