A Roodepoort school teacher had a heart attack while teaching, and died, according to a report.

Beeld newspaper reported on Thursday that Jaco Moorcroft, 48, maths and technology teacher at the Dr Havenga Primary School, had a heart attack shortly before second break on Monday.

"He was standing in front of a Grade Seven class when he suddenly collapsed. Other teachers ran over and removed the children from the classroom," said principal Leon Visser.

Paramedics administered three adrenalin injections and used a defibrillator to try and revive him.

"He died 15 minutes after I arrived," said his wife Dorette.

Through tears, she said he died doing what he loved.
