As an alumnus of UCT who protested and marched for open universities in the 1960s, I am dismayed by the uncivilised behaviour on campus.

Generations of students at UCT have walked past the Rhodes statue without batting an eyelid.

If the students are so opposed to "colonialism", they should not travel by train, bus or car to a university.

Nor should they use cellphones or computers.

If UCT offends them, why seek bursaries to study there?

Would they rather not attend a tribal college?

The poo-throwers should be disciplined.
