Joburg is your best bet for making the big bucks
Johannesburg is the place to be for the big pay cheque. According to CareerJunction's latest salary review, salaries in Johannesburg are between 20% and 30% higher than in Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The discrepancy is mainly in industries such as engineering and finance.The top-end monthly salary recorded for a mining engineer was R77,031.Bank tellers were the lowest earners, averaging only R5,651 a month. Salaries for skilled labourers in construction had increased by an average of 13% in the past six months and architects were earning 20% more.Economist Loane Sharpe, of the Free Market Foundation, said the lower wages could play to Durban's advantage.He said Durban was a good "locale for corporate headquarters because of good schools, a skilled labour market and low rentals"...
