Is Maimane truly 'DA' man?

24 April 2015 - 02:02 By Thabile Mange, by e-mail

Remember Joe Seremane? He was the DA's federal chairman. He made no difference to the party. He was just a black face in an all-white sea. Mmusi Maimane has been tipped to succeed Helen Zille as party leader despite being in the DA for less than five years. He has two master's degrees under his belt: theology and public management. Which makes we wonder why the young pastor did not join the African Christian Democratic Party instead. My view is that he was rushed into senior leadership positions. I hope he's not being set up for failure.Maimane is an excellent public speaker. But has he got what it takes to steer the party into power, or surpass the 22% support the party enjoyed in the last elections? Only time will tell...
