Police launch manhunt for AU delegate robbers

The South African Police Service on Thursday deployed a team of detectives on a manhunt for suspects who robbed an African Union (AU) delegate on the M1 at the Marlboro turn off. The Nigerian delegate‚ named by other media outlets as Gabriel Gundo‚ 55‚ was travelling with his driver from the OR Thambo International Airport to Sandton when they were attacked by a number of men posing as police officers.The suspects‚ driving a Hyundai sedan‚ robbed the delegate of $500 and R700 in cash before driving away‚ Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.Gundo was not hurt during the robbery.Thursday’s robbery is the second incident this year involving international delegates attending meetings in South Africa.In May delegates to the Pan African Parliament were robbed at gunpoint in their bus at the entrance to the Protea Hotel in Midrand.The 25th AU summit is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre until June 15...
