Eskom will continue to impose power cuts for the next 18 months as it struggles with inadequate generating capacity, Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown said yesterday. Brown, whose department oversees state-owned companies, said she was worried about Eskom's financial sustainability and the reliability of elderly power stations, which need frequent maintenance."Although the accelerated maintenance programme has increased plant capacity from 65% to 75%, I am urging Eskom to continue on this trend and increase this threshold to at least 80%," Brown said after Eskom's annual general meeting. ..
