Aston Martin is making its 007 connection more explicit than ever with the launch of the DB9 GT Bond Edition. Limited to 150 examples, the latest addition to the DB9 range is a special edition of what is already a special edition, the GT having gone on sale just weeks ago and described by Aston Martin as the very best a DB9 can be.The Aston Martin-Bond connection dates back to 1959, when author Ian Fleming put his secret agent behind the wheel of a DB3 in Goldfinger.By the time Sean Connery played Bond in the 1964 film adaptation, the Aston was a DB5, while in the latest instalment, Spectre, Daniel Craig drives a one-off DB10.To the GT's styling - namely carbon-fibre front splitter and rear diffuser and 50cm wheels - the Bond edition adds Spectre silver paint, sterling silver Aston logos and "007 Bond" exterior badging.Under the bonnet is a 6.0-litre V12 that propels the car from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and on to 294km/h.Inside there are numbered sill plaques, "gun barrel embroidery" and an "infotainment" screen with a Bond-themed start-up graphic. Sadly there is no ejector seat, but buyers do get an Omega Seamaster Bond watch.Price? R3.3-million...
