Suspended with no pray

A bus driver who refused to stop leading his passengers in prayer has been suspended. The MyCiTi driver, from Atlantis, was warned about the practice last week after a passenger complained, the City of Cape Town said yesterday.The driver "was initially not disciplined, but asked to refrain from leading the passengers in prayer as there are passengers from mixed faiths on the My-CiTi bus who take exception to the practice".The driver, who is employed by TBRT, a MyCiTi vehicle operating company, disobeyed the instruction and was given a written warning on Tuesday."TBRT suspended the driver after he again ignored the written warning," the council said.Mayoral committee member for transport Brett Herron said "drivers wishing to bless their journey are requested to do so quietly in the cab of the MyCiTi bus". ..
