Has Mexican-Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o gone from Oscar winner to movie extra? Yesterday international media reports indicated that the director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, JJ Abrams, was so unimpressed by her performance that he had downscaled Nyong'o's role as Maz Kanata in the seventh installment of the franchise to a smaller part. The actress last year won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for 12 Years A Slave. Apparently, even her dialogue has been re-recorded.A source told the US newspaper The Sun that the actress seemed to struggle with the CGI effects of the movie.Said the source: "It's ultimately quite embarrassing for Lupita but she's still thrilled to even be in such an iconic movie."The star herself has yet to comment. In an interview with Essence magazine to be published in its January issue, Nyong'o says: "I was on the way to the beach and all of sudden JJ's on the phone. I asked to see the script and they flew someone to Morocco with the script so I could read it."I was immediately interested in the character."..
