KwaZulu-Natal cops celebrate sending child rapist to jail for a very long time

The 25-year sentence meted out to an Empangeni man for raping a 10-year-old girl was applauded by the KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner on Friday. The Empangeni Regional Court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced Casha Ngwane‚ 35‚ for raping the girl.The court heard that on July 24 last year the accused called the girl into his room in Mandlanzini‚ Empangeni‚ raped her and gave her 50 cents. This was repeated several times and on each occasion Ngwane told her not to tell anyone‚ according to a statement issued by the police.KwaZulu-Natal Provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the Empangeni detectives for their work in securing a “harsh sentence”...
