Damien Hirst has described his Christmas tree as a "celebration of togetherness". But the artist is no stranger to controversy and his latest installation, outside a top London hotel, is no exception.The 9m tree, "decorated" with scissors, syringes and medicine bottles, has caused consternation among the well-heeled residents of Mayfair.Many have branded the choice of decor insensitive because of the tree's proximity to the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception and a shelter for homeless people.And they warned that the church's traditional Christmas mural would be obscured.The tree was commissioned by the five-star Connaught Hotel. ..
