Money, fame and popularity might have been the appeal of Clash of the Choirs, but for members of winning Team JR the competition has offered more than just a healthier bank balance. On Sunday the third South African season of the competition - in which celebrities put together a choir and battle it out against one another - judges named the Mpumalanga team as winners of a R1-million cash prize. Each member of the 18-strong choir walked away with just over R55500.Two of the choir members said yesterday the prize money would give them a chance to further their education."I'm going to invest mine and go back to school," said 23-year-old Angela Sokhanyile."I was studying electrical engineering before the competition and I want to go on. But I also want to study media now."Being on the show has made me more interested in understanding how media works."Lindiwe Thwala, 24, a qualified paramedic, says she wants to get a logistics qualification."Music is my first love but I would like to one day have a logistics company."For choirmaster JR, whose real name is Tabure Thabo Bogopa Junior, the show gave him an opportunity to grow as a musician."The competition has grown my musical palate and explored my musical talent," he said.As for the future of the group as a whole, no formal decision has been made but they are interested in recording music together under a new name, which they have yet to come up with...
