Motorists were shocked to see a group of men carrying a giant python on a pole on the freeway south of Amanzimtoti.
According to East Coast Radio, Yolandi Pearce from Pumula told Newswatch that her family was travelling towards Durban when, just before 11am, they noticed a group of people with a large number of hunting dogs in the centre median.
When they got closer they couldn't believe their eyes - so they got off at the next off-ramp in order to turn back and get another look.
The men were carrying a four to five metre long dead python.
