Ronaldo 'no problemo', says Real's Bale

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has denied that he and teammate Cristiano Ronaldo have an uneasy relationship at the Bernabeu. Bale, who scored twice in Ronaldo's absence in Saturday's 3-2 win at Rayo Vallecano, has at times looked inhibited in Spain by the domineering presence of his colleague, and has a far superior goal record when Ronaldo is not playing.Playing with Ronaldo, Bale scores at a rate of 0.42 goals per game, whereas it is 0.93 goals per game when Ronaldo is absent.Bale, though, insists he and Ronaldo have a good relationship."He speaks English, which helped me when I first came here," Bale told the UK's The Times."We also have that link from the Premier League. We get on really well. The press make a lot of things that maybe we don't but we get on fine. We've never had a problem."Bale, 26, added: "We've found a good balance. We're doing well, scoring a lot of goals, and hopefully we can peak now towards the end of the season and get some trophies."One of the areas Bale has occasionally been subservient to Ronaldo in is free kicks, with the Portuguese seeming to pull rank in dead ball situations.Bale laughed at how Real have worked to solve the problem. "It's on the board: free kicks left side him, free kicks right side me," he said.Bale will play at a Premier League stadium tonight for the first time since leaving Tottenham in 2013, and he is excited about taking on Manchester City in the Champions League semifinal. The Welshman said: "We know the threat they could pose but we're ready for it." - © The Daily TelegraphRonaldo and Karim Benzema were both included in coach Zinedine Zidane's squad for tonight's first leg, despite fitness doubts.Ronaldo is expected to start on his return to Manchester, where he spent six years with Manchester United between 2003 and 2009. ..
